Festival Setup
Kelley M LikesThis is how I do it:
1 - canopy tent with 2 awnings
2 - hanging banners - double sided
2 - retractable banners (one with a call to action to take a picture with Merriweather and tag us)
3 - 8 foot by 2 foot tables - (skinnier and longer than regular 6 foot tables) covered in floor length black table clothes to hide boxes, topped with decorative upholstery fabric (super durable and doesn't wrinkle)
8 - wire stands to hold books - some open to a page I like and some closed.
2 - lightweight metal and plastic books racks that hold lots of books. I do 4 books in a row straight down. I don't bring all of my books.
1 - wall of all my books using the covers from the lesson plans. I hang these from a string.
1 - Squishmallow with a sign for a chance to win the Squishmallow when you sign up for our mailing list
1 - Play to Win a Prize sign that goes to a Plinko game. I created 7 things to win: A book, a bookmark, a sticker, a coloring book, and try again and you pick. Kids love it and they want to play a lot, which is why I have a sign that says, "1 play per day per person." At the Balloon Festivals, I had Squishmallow as one of the prizes.
1 - sign that says "Read All Our Books" with a QR code to the website, that I safety pin to the table.
1 - toy fire engine for Snout. Made of plastic, super easy to clean kid germs off of.
2 - spinning racks for books. People enjoy spinning them around.
1 - MEET THE AUTHOR table runner.
Tons of catalogs and business cards
Total cost was around $650. I got most things used or on marketplace. The banners were the most expensive investment.
This all fits nicely into my 2006 minivan named Lulabelle.
